FOLLOW-UP SHOULD BE DONE CREATIVELY (FOLLOW-UP: PART 4)

Today, we will conclude our series on the importance of following up with prospects and clients by talking about creativity in the follow-up. In my experience, creativity is sorely lacking in most companies' marketing and follow-up strategies. With the domination of social media/email, it is easy to become one-dimensional and to get lost in the crowd.

When you are following up with a prospect, you should assume that other competing companies are doing the same. Therefore, ask yourself what you are currently doing that is different and creative that your competitors aren’t doing (or that they aren’t doing well). Below are some questions that we use when determining what to come up with:

1.      What will get the attention of our prospects?

2.      What is something that is fun and will make them feel good?

3.      What message(s) am I wanting to communicate?

4.      What can demonstrate that we are the authority in what we do?

5.      How does this build trust?

Creativity in social media is very limited. Don’t get me wrong; it can be very effective. But at the end of the day, there are only so many things you can do with a social media platform or in an email. So, how can we have creative follow-up in a world in which it is so easy to get lost in the shuffle? This is where promotional products come in. Some would say I am biased since I own a promotional product company, but I have the stats to back me on this. Promotional products are ranked as the #1 most effective form of advertising to prompt action across all generations. 

 However, it isn’t enough to just buy promotional products. You need to make sure you’re buying the right kind for the right purposes and that you have the right plan to implement them. This is where so many people take a wrong turn. Instead of focusing their attention on how they are utilizing promotional products, some are mostly concerned with how “cheap” they can get by with buying promotional products.
